WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (Nov. 29, 2017) – The portion of State Street stretching from North University Street to Airport/McCormick Road will reopen tomorrow, Nov. 30.
While State Street will be open to two-way vehicular traffic from Tapawingo Drive to U.S. 231, final improvements, including landscaping, concrete work and cycle track completion, will be ongoing through spring of 2018 as will the completion of the section of road between Airport/McCormick Road and U.S. 231. These activities may result in occasion lane restrictions.
Additionally, motorists and pedestrians should be mindful of a new type of pedestrian signal at the intersection of State Street and MacArthur Drive and use caution in the area as everyone adjusts to the new signal and traffic pattern.
Construction will begin again in early 2018, at which time work will focus on Stadium Avenue, Williams Street and Airport and McCormick Roads. Detailed information about next year’s construction, including vehicular traffic plans and timelines, will be shared at the City of West Lafayette Redevelopment Commission meeting on Dec. 20.
“While this is a major milestone for the project, we do want to remind the community that traffic will still be impacted through next year as construction continues,” says Erik Carlson, City of West Lafayette Director of Development. “We appreciate the public’s patience as we work to complete the project by the end of 2018.”
