RE-IMAGINE. RE-INVEST. RE-MAKE.

Stretching from the Wabash River, through downtown West Lafayette and Purdue's campus to its intersection at U.S. 231, State Street is at the heart of our community. The State Street Redevelopment Project is the name of the initiative that will reinvent this historic route.

BUILDING THE VISION

For generations, State Street has served as a primary road leading to and through downtown West Lafayette and Purdue University. With the completion of the 231 bypass, State Street is no longer a state highway and is now under local control. This designation allows us to de-emphasize State Street’s role as a thoroughfare and to focus on resident, business and student needs.

The goal is to remake State Street – from the Wabash River, through downtown West Lafayette and Purdue University, out to the newly opened western gateway – into a place that reflects the vibrant spirit of the community.
